Melissa is an experienced educator with over 12 years of teaching children aged 3 to 13. She currently teaches 9–11-year-olds, covering core subjects including Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, and History. A proud alumna of Good Natured Learning, Melissa completed the Teaching Outdoors Workshop in 2024—and hasn’t looked back since. Outdoor learning is now a core part of her weekly teaching practice, with about 90 minutes spent outside each week, primarily focused on Maths and English. In Maths, she uses “nature slides”—question prompts and activities displayed on trees or the ground—to create interactive learning trails. Her English classes often take their reading outdoors, where a bent tree shaped by recent rains has become a favorite learning spot. Melissa has seen firsthand how outdoor learning boosts student engagement, enthusiasm, and focus, and she encourages every teacher to explore the benefits of teaching outside.
